VSID inspections are performed by city-approved Vehicle Safety Inspection Mechanics. You can find the full list of approved mechanics here: https://www.seattle.gov/business-regulations/taxis-for-hires-and-tncs/vehicle-safety-inspections#allvehicle
The mechanic will notify you if your vehicle passed or failed the safety requirements at the time of the inspection. If the vehicle fails the inspection, you will be notified of the reasons for failure. It is your responsibility to fix any issues and to schedule a re-inspection with the mechanic directly. As a reminder, the vehicle must have a passed inspection in VSID to renew or make any changes to the medallion.
If you are trying to complete a process in our Portal and receive an error, it may be one of two issues:
- If your inspection was recently completed, it may take time for the mechanic to enter the inspection information in VSID in order for our system to validate it. You may try again in a day or two or contact the mechanic that performed the inspection.
- Check the vehicle information on your inspection to verify the mechanic entered your vehicle information correctly into VSID.
If you believe that you have a valid vehicle safety inspection, but are still receiving an error, please contact Customer Service at 206-386-1267 for assistance.
