How to Make Changes to a For-Hire Driver's License

The changes you can request for your for-hire driver’s license in the Seattle Services Portal are: add WAT certification, report a legal name change, or change where you’re authorized to pick up passengers from City Only or County Only to City and County. Please note that you cannot make changes to your for-hire driver license while your renewal is in process or if your license is expired.

If this will be your first time using the Seattle Services Portal, you must first complete the Identity Verification and Records Claim process before you can make changes to your for-hire driver’s license.

1. Login to the Seattle Services Portal.
2. Click My Records in the upper-left of the page.
3. Find your for-hire driver’s license record (FDL-##-######) and then select Make Changes in the Action column.
4. Your contact information will be listed in the Applicant section. Click Continue.
5. Select the checkbox for the type of change you want to make. You may select more than one type of change.

   

6. If you had a legal name change and your state driver license number also changed, enter the new driver license number and new driver license expiration date.
7. Select how you would like to receive your updated For-Hire License.
8. Click Continue.
9. If you selected either to add WAT certification or Legal Name Change, you must attach your WAT certification or a legal name change document. If there are not any documents required, click Continue. If documents are required:
   • Click Select
   • Click Select again in the next pop up screen
   • Select the file from your device
   • Click Done
   • Select the Type of document and enter a Description
   • Click Save
   • Click Continue
10. Review your application; click Edit to update any information that is not correct.
11. If everything is correct, check the box at the bottom to certify the information is correct.
12. Click Continue.
13. Pay for your renewal fees by clicking Checkout.
14. Click Checkout again.
15. Enter your credit or debit card information.
16. Click Submit Payment.
17. Our office will review and process the change(s). You will receive an email confirmation when the change is complete, or we will contact you if additional information is required.
