Instructions for Requesting or Rescheduling a Street Use Inspection
You can request and reschedule Street Use inspections through the Seattle Services Portal. You can also view all pending, scheduled, and completed inspections. This article explains:

Inspections Types that Schedule Automatically
Inspections that are automatically scheduled and do not require a request include:
- Interim inspections
- Final inspection
- Acceptance inspection
- Initial inspection - The scheduled date is updated when a Job Start Notification is submitted.
Inspection Types Available by Request
Some inspections are not scheduled automatically. They become available for request after the Initial Inspection for your permit is completed. These inspections may be requested for the following permit types:
- Construction
- Heavy Crane
- Maintenance
- Minor Utility
- Street Improvement
- Utility Major
Use the descriptions below to help determine which inspection to request. Availability depends on your permit type, and not all inspection types may be available.
- Curb Ramp Inspection: Confirms that new curb ramps meet ADA requirements.
- Mark Out Inspection: Establishes the layout of restoration dimensions.
- Restoration Inspection: Ensures restoration work complies with City standards and codes.
- Site Inspection: Requests an inspection prior to your next scheduled inspection.
Except for Mark Out Inspection, each inspection type may be requested more than once per permit.

Step-by-Step Guides
How to Request an Inspection
Step 1: Access the Seattle Services Portal
- Go to the Seattle Services Portal.
- Optionally, log in.
Step 2: Find and Open the Record
- Locate the record that needs an inspection:
- If you know the record number, click Search All Records on the Seattle Services Portal homepage and search for your record.
- If you are logged in, click My Records to view a list of your records.
- If a list displays, click the record number to open the record.
Step 3: Open the Inspections Tab
From the open record:
- Under Record Info, click Inspections.
- Review the pending, scheduled, and completed inspections.
- Most pending inspections are available for request.
Step 4: Schedule the Inspection
- Click Actions next to the inspection type you want to request.
- Select Schedule.
- If Schedule is not available, the inspection cannot be scheduled through the Seattle Services Portal. Contact your inspector if you have questions.

Step 5: Select a Date
- Choose an available date on the calendar (shown as a blue square).
- The date must fall between the earliest Use start date and the permit expiration date.
- Inspections may only be requested up to 30 business days in advance.
- If no dates are available, return later to submit your request.
- Select the radio button next to Confirm Date.
- Click Continue.
Step 6: Confirm the Onsite Contact
- Review the Onsite Contact information.
- If correct, click Continue.
- If changes are needed:
- Click Change Contact.
- Select another contact on the permit, or
- Select Name a different person and enter the first name, last name, and phone number.
- Click Submit.
- Click Continue.
Step 7: Review and Submit
- Review all information provided.
- To make corrections, click Back to return to the appropriate section.
- Optionally, enter comments for the inspector in Include Additional Notes.
- Click Finish to submit your request.
Step 8: Confirmation
You will be returned to the Inspections section of your record.
- The inspection will now show as Scheduled, and an inspector is assigned.
- If you have more than five pending or scheduled inspections, use the pagination controls to view additional inspections.
How to Reschedule an Inspection
Once an inspection is scheduled, you may reschedule it up to one full business day before the scheduled date.
Example: If your inspection is scheduled for Thursday, you may reschedule it until midnight on Tuesday.
This section provides step-by-step instructions on rescheduling an inspection.
Step 1: Access the Seattle Services Portal
- Go to the Seattle Services Portal.
- Optionally, log in.
Step 2: Find and Open the Record
- Locate the record that needs an inspection:
- If you know the record number, click Search All Records on the Seattle Services Portal homepage and search for your record.
- If you are logged in, click My Records to view a list of your records.
- If a list displays, click the record number to open the record.
Step 3: Open the Inspections Tab
From the open record:
- Under Record Info, click Inspections.
- Locate the inspection you want to reschedule.
Step 4: Select Reschedule
- Click Actions next to the inspection you want to reschedule.
- Select Reschedule.
Step 5: Choose a New Date
- Choose an available date on the calendar (shown as a blue square).
- The date must fall between the earliest Use start date and the permit expiration date.
- Inspections may only be requested up to 30 business days in advance.
- You may reschedule an inspection multiple times, if needed.
- Select the radio button next to Confirm Date.
- Click Continue.
Step 6: Confirm the Onsite Contact
- Review the Onsite Contact information.
- If correct, click Continue.
- If changes are needed:
- Click Change Contact.
- Select another contact on the permit, or
- Select Name a different person and enter the first name, last name, and phone number.
- Click Submit.
- Click Continue.
