SDOT bills for all review and inspection hourly charges. SDOT also bills for permit fees for some customers. If your Street Use permit fees or service charges are billed, you will receive a monthly invoice from Street Use.

How do I pay my Street Use invoice?
Please refer to our help article for step-by-step instructions: How to Find and Pay Your Current Street Use Invoice.
Where is my Street Use invoice document?
If your permit fees are billed, an invoice is generated at the beginning of each month for fees from the prior month. The invoice is stored on a special invoice record, not on your permit record. Fees are still paid on your permit record. To find your invoice, please refer to our help article for step-by-step instructions: How to Find and Pay Your Current Street Use Invoice.
What is this inspection charge for?
Each inspection with a service charge appears on your invoice in the following format:
Date: Default date for inspection service charges billed in a specific month (e.g., it will be a March date for any service charge included on your March invoice). It is the date the fee was created by the system. It is NOT the date your inspection was performed.
Fee: The type of fee; always Inspection Charge for inspection fees, followed by the system’s internal invoice number associated with the fee that shows on the Fees tab of the application or permit.
Description:
Inspector: <name> - Name of the inspector who performed the inspection.
Inspection Type: <inspection type> - Type of inspection.
Notes:
Service Date: <date> <inspection ID>- Date the inspection was performed followed by a
unique identifier for the inspection. This ID helps you find more detail about the inspection
in the Seattle Services Portal.
Use Code: Not applicable for inspections.
Hours/Qty: The duration of the inspection in hours.
Rate: The hourly rate charged for the inspection.
Fee Amount: Hours multiplied by Rate.
Amount Paid: The amount already paid for this Fee Amount.
Amount Due: Amount due for this Fee Amount.
How do I find more detail about an inspection?
You may view the inspection status and comments for your completed inspections on the Seattle Services Portal.
- Find your permit in the Seattle Services Portal.
- Click the Inspections tab.
- Scroll down to the Completed section.
- Find the inspection you have a question about. Note that the Inspector name and inspection ID displayed on your invoice are also displayed on your inspection in the Seattle Services Portal.
- Click View Details.
- The following information displays:
Status: The result status for your inspection, followed by the date the inspection was completed. This is the same date as the Service Date that appears on your invoice.
A time-of-day also displays. This time shows the time of day the inspector updated the inspection, NOT necessarily the time of day that the inspection was performed.
Desired Date is not used by Street Use and always displays TBD.
Last updated: The person who last updated the inspection record. This is almost always the inspector but may be someone other than who performed the inspection.
View Status History: Click on the link to see the history for the inspection, such as when it was scheduled and completed.
Result Comments: Click on the View Result Comments link to see comments from your inspector specific to this inspection. This comment is also sent by email to all record contacts when the inspection status is set. The comment is also included in the Inspections Results report available on the Attachments tab of your permit.
What is this review charge for?
Each review with a service charge appears on your invoice in the following format:
Date: Default date for review service charges billed in a specific month (e.g., it will be a March date for any service charge included on your March invoice). It is the date the fee was created by the system. It is NOT the date your review was performed.
Fee: The type of fee; always Review Charge for review fees, followed by the system’s internal invoice number associated with the fee that shows on the Fees tab of the application or permit.
Description:
Reviewer: <name> - Name of the reviewer who performed the review.
Notes:
Service Date: <date> <note> <task>- Date the review was performed followed by an
optional note from the reviewer and an optional task name. Examples of task names
include Screening, Primary Review, or Review Evaluation.
Use Code: Not applicable for reviews.
Hours/Qty: The duration of the review in hours.
Rate: The hourly rate charged for the review.
Fee Amount: Hours multiplied by Rate.
Amount Paid: The amount already paid for this Fee Amount.
Amount Due: Amount due for this Fee Amount.
Why do I get an error message when I try to pay?
This error message is displayed when there is no fee on the record that you are adding to your cart. To pay your Street Use invoice, please go to your permit record and add the permit to your cart NOT the invoice record. Please refer to this help article for detailed instructions.
One or both of the following error messages are displayed when online payments are not allowed. Payments for records receiving this error are made outside of the Seattle Services Portal.
This error message may display when the Pay Fees button is clicked.
This error message is displayed after providing payment details and clicking Submit Payment.
If you believe you are receiving either of these messages in error or want additional information, please contact SDOT Accounts Receivable at 206-684-5058 or sdot_ar@seattle.gov.
Is the Fee Statement report the same as a Street Use Invoice document?
No. The Fee Statement report shows all fees currently due for any one Application or Permit record, whether the fees are billed or must be paid before a permit is issued. The Street Use Invoice document shows only billed fees due for that billing period. The Invoice document will not match the Fee Statement when there are unbilled fees, when billed fees are still due for prior billing periods, or when billed fees have been assessed for the next billing period.
Can I use the Fee Statement report to reprint my Street Use Invoice report?
No. The individual fees owed on an Application or Permit record are “tied to” that record, not to the Invoice record. A blank report is generated if you attempt to run the Fee Statement report with a Street Use Invoice number (SUINV).
Why do I get a blank page when I run the Fee Statement report for my Invoice record?
Fees are associated with an Application or Permit record not an Invoice record, so when the Fee Statement report is run for an Invoice record, no fees are found and the report returns a blank page. If you want to run the report, use the Application or Permit record number associated with the Invoice record. To find which Application or Permit record number to use, refer to How to Find and Pay Your Current Street Use Invoice. For information on how to run the report, refer to How to Find and Pay Fees Due for Your Street Use Application or Permit - How to Generate a Fee Statement Report.
How can I tell if an invoice is paid?
- Go to the Seattle Services Portal.
- On the homepage, click Search All Records.
- Enter the invoice number in the Record Number field.
- Click Search.
- On the record that opens, click on the Status tab to see whether this invoice is paid. Under Invoiced, there is an entry that says Marked as Paid on followed by the date the payment was recorded. There will also be a green checkmark next to the Closed step.
How Can I Dispute or Inquire About a Fee or Charge?
If you would like to dispute or inquire about a fee or charge, see How Do I Submit a Street Use Fee Dispute Request.
