What Happened?
SDOT Street Use launched a new permitting system on November 9, 2020. This was the second launch for Street Use. All remaining Street Use permits are available on the new system, including Construction Use, Minor Utility, Utility Majors, and Street Improvements.
The new system allows you to submit applications online, view your application progress, pay fees online, see your scheduled inspections, submit job start notifications, and more. Our new system is 100 percent electronic, which means that customers will submit applications, documents, and corrections via the Seattle Services Portal.
How Can I Find My Existing Permits in the New System?
If you have active applications or permits, Street Use converted your applications and permits to the new system. Your converted permits use the same number as in the previous system, with a few differences. A prefix starts the permit number to identify the type of application. The prefix is followed by an X to indicate a converted permit. The X is followed by your old permit number. So, if your Minor Utility permit number in the old system is 12345, your permit number in the new system is SUUTILX12345.
For example:
SUUTILX12345 - Minor Utility
SUCONSTX12345 - Construction Use
SUUMPX12345 - Utility Major Permit
SUSIPX12345 - Street Improvement Permit
You can easily search for your permit too. Follow the steps in How Do I Search for My Converted Street Use Permit.
How to Get Started
To get started, all you need is a Seattle Services Portal account. There is a one-time registration process. After you have registered, log in to have full access to your permits. If you don't have an account, go to Seattle Services Portal and click Register for an Account.
IMPORTANT: For the system to correctly match your account with your converted permits, the contact information you use to register must match one of the contacts on your permit. If you do not see your permits after you register and log in, follow the steps in Why Can’t I Find My Street Use Permit.
