You can apply for a Mechanical Permit as a stand-alone permit. You do not need to apply through the Building and Land Use Pre-Application Process. To apply for a Mechanical Permit, follow these steps:
- Go to the Seattle Services Portal
- Select Create New - Permits - Trade, Construction & Land Use
- Click on Trade Permits to open the menu
- Select Mechanical Permit
- Click Continue Application
- Fill out the application, including all the required items with an asterisk next to them
- Be sure to complete the Mechanical Location Info and Mechanical Application Info sections of your Mechanical Permit application, even though it isn’t marked with an asterisk
You must fill out the Mechanical Location Info and Mechanical Application Info sections or your application will not be processed correctly
- You will need to complete and submit the following documents for your application:
- A Plan Set
- A Statement of Financial Responsibility
- If you are applying for a Mechanical STFI Permit, you must upload all required documents when you submit your application before we’ll issue your permit (see Tip 414, STFI Mechanical Permits for Commercial and Multifamily Residential)
- If you are applying for a Mechanical Plan Review Permit, you need to:
- Read Tip 415, Applicant Responsibilities and Plan Requirements for Mechanical Permits
- Schedule an intake appointment (see How to Schedule an SDCI Inspection or Appointment)
- Upload your intake materials by 7:00 a.m. the day of your intake appointment (see How to Submit Materials for Intake)
