SDCI considers renewals to be amendments to your existing records. We track them using the initial record number with a numeric suffix. You can find them under the related records for your initial application.
You can only request a renewal of the following types of trade permits within 30 days of when your permit will expire. (For all other permit types, see Renewal Process for SDCI Permits.)
- Conveyance
- Boiler/Pressure Vessel
- Refrigeration
If you submit your renewal application within the 30-day, pre-expiration window, you can renew your permit for an additional 18 months. Only the original contractor or installer that applied for the permit can request this renewal. Contact the original contractor or installer if you need to schedule inspections or need more information about your permit.
